Bibliographies of the Bruchinae

In inquiry-based laboratory courses, the experiments that are most effective are those that are grounded in authentic research questions. One appealing aspect of the bean beetle model system is that extensive research has been done on bruchid beetles and with members of the genus Callosobruchus in particular. We have compiled three bibliographies to enable faculty and students to explore the research literature on bruchid beetles as part of a laboratory experiment or in designing new experiments.

Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Animal Behavior

This comprehensive bibliography of research in ecology, evolutionary biology, and animal behavior of the genus Callosobruchus was compiled as part of our Phase 1 project and is updated weekly.

Physiology and Neurobiology

This bibliography of research in physiology and neurobiology of the Bruchinae was compiled by members of the 2009 and 2010 Bean Beetle Curriculum Development Network. New studies are added weekly.

Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Developmental Biology

This bibliography of research in genetics, molecular biology, and developmental biology of the Bruchinae was compiled by members of the 2011 and 2012 Bean Beetle Curriculum Development Network. New studies are added weeklyBibliographies of the Bruchinae
